My Regimen...
Twists for 1-2 weeks, Take down and rock twist out for another week or deep condition right away. If twists out is worn, deep condition at the end of that week. After deep conditioning and applying leave in I wear 6 big twists and let air dry. This helps to let my hair stretch before doing small or mini twists. Simple, yet it works!
Sesame oil is another great oil for the health of your hair. Not only does it nourish the hair but it has healing properties and is in the Ayruvedic category. -It adds lustre to dark hair (which most sistas have) -massaging into scalp controls dryness and flakes thus preventing hair loss. -warm oil massage will increase circulation to scalp increasing growth -oil penetrates damaged over processed hair and heals from within -since it is known as a healing oil it will control fungal scalp infections -strengthens hair shaft and roots -promotes new hair growth -rough hair can be softened -stress causes hair loss. massaging sesame oil into scalp neck and shoulders alleviates stress -its known for its darkening qualities so its great for gray hair -protects hair from damaging UV rays **SESAME OIL DOES HAVE A STRONG SMELL SO IT IS BEST TO CUT W/ A CARRIER OIL LIKE ALMOND OR COCONUT TO LESSEN IT. IN MY OPINION THE SMELL ISNT THAT BAD BUT IT DOES HAVE A STRONG NUTTY SMELL. Here's the video on my oil blend:
I started making this when I moved around a lot during the year and didn't have the necessary tools to make my original mix. So Just used the following ingredients minus the water I usually add:
Shea butter virgin coconut oil jojoba oil sesame seed oil extra virgin olive oil vitamin e grapefruit essence oil
I melted all the ingredients in a pot and then let it cool off before putting in a container b/c it melts the container otherwise. After it cools it solidifies again and voila! At first it looks grainy but if you rub the shea mix in your palms it melts and is fine to use. OF COURSE YOU CAN USE YOUR OWN CHOICE OF OILS!!
Now these aren't the MICRO twists I did before (if you visit my youtube channel) but they are pretty close! lol. Took me about a day to complete (with the interruptions of my dollz). I did them on air dried hair (in big twists)after deep conditioning. I only used my shea butter mix of oils. And voila! I hope to keep in for at least 3 weeks. It's already been 1 week. So Far So Good!
If you haven't heard the buzz, I started a Hair Challenge. Actually it started back on October 1st but you can still join and extend the end of the challenge (originally March 30th 2011) by one month. Happy Hair Growing!! (HHG)
